#1 - If there is any merit to there being a security issue then the easiest solution would be to uninstall AVG just to determine if that remotely can be the source of the problem. Reason was that 2 factor was put into effect automatically. Not to belabor the 2 factor thing with a service provider using Yahoo as its backend, just went thru a couple of scenarios with relatives stating that they could no longer log into their account.

It hung because like the sbcglobal account when I tried imap. Then I tried setting up the google account on automatic. I got the same results using their settings. I tried playing with the encryption settings and none of the combos seemed to work. I tried the automatic and when that didn't work, I manually entered the data based on the Outlook 2010 setup on his old computer. Please check the incoming (POP) server encryption method and try again. We couldn't connect to the incoming (POP) server using the specified encryption method. However, whenever I try to set up the account, I get this message:
